Meet Kemi, a focused and career driven lady on a mission—to have a baby at any cost. An accident induced miscarriage in her first year of marriage had left Kemi struggling to conceive and her mother-in-law who had never accepted Kemi as her son's bride is mounting pressure. Kemi desperately tries Surrogacy in a most unconventional way. The plan boomerangs leaving in its wake misery, dejection, a murder case and ultimately the disintegration of the marriage union she had sought desperately to uphold. The Surrogacy Deal explores the pain and angst women trying to conceive go through in Nigeria and is told in a fun light-hearted way.

  • adadxb A very interesting read. The bit when Kemi was at the beach and her life flashed in front of her of what was of her life and how she seemingly had screwed it all up was by far my best part of the story. So much to learn from her thoughts and observations just from that scenario alone. I felt the end was a little bit of a drag... All in all this was an interesting and intriguing book filled with so many life lessons to learn from. Well done to the writer.

  • bisolarr What an amazing Book, I loved It and read it one one fell swoop. Very vivid and detailed, and one feels the plethora of emotions the protagonist goes through as she processes her childlessness and the fear of losing her husband, I also learnt a lot of lessons on of which is that patience is a virtue and one should trust and wait in God. Good work Barakat, I will be sure to read anything else you write. Loved it.
