selected works of orji uzor kalu: to make nigeria work

About this book

Review by Oluchi Uba: I appreciate Izuoma’s unreserved and fascinating approach on the much criticized Nigeria federalism. He explains Nigeria’s federalism as one which is yet to work for the country, not for the fact that the constitution is faulty but the players lacking the will power to enforce the tenants of the constitution. He chose a character from South East Nigeria, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu whose literary works formed basiss of his arguments. Kalu, as a former governor of Abia, one of the marginalized states (as he stated) fits in as his works places him as a detribalized leader and successful Igbo man. By the book title: Selected Works of Orji Uzor Kalu: To Make Nigeria Work, one would expect nothing but the works of Kalu but the author was intelligent enough to subdue praise drives, cited his related works and words while smartly addressing the internal polarization of Igbo people in Nigeria. I would recommend this book to anyone who is keen at knowing about the lopsidedness of Nigeria federalism and how Orji Uzor Kalu has really contributed towards making Nigeria work. Being the first volume of this book, one will expect much more revelation in the second volume. Noticed an error in this book? Send a mail to to report it
